Richard’s acting credits included principal characters in Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" and "The Long Walk Home" starring Whoopi Goldberg. He also appeared on Broadway in August Wilson’s Pulitizer winning drama, “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.”

As a news assistant for NY1, he covered the 2000 presidential primaries, the New York senate race, the 2000 elections,interviewing former president Bill Clinton, Senator Hilary Clinton, Reverend Jesse Jackson, and Bill Bradley. Richard worked as an on-air reporter for ABC News affiliates throughout the Southeast. He has been honored by the Associated Press and various community groups. As community organizer, he has worked in New York, Washington, and New Zealand.
